this ramen spot has been on my list for so long and i finally tried it! i went during early dinner so it wasn't busy at all. i absolutely loved the ramen! the pork was super tender, and just the right amount (not too small). i loved that we could customize our ramen choice, it reminded me of ramen nagi. i like my noodles soft, and they delivered. the broth was super yummy and not too salty! i would highly recommend!
Honestly. It's hard to find a place open this late. Definitely my first option when it's later at night. Food is good, the service is great, and the ambiance is nice. Go here with friends if you want some casual drinks and ramen.
I had an amazing spicy ramen dish custom the way I wanted it! Great service. I went there at night and maybe the lights could have been a little lower to creat better ambiance but that is the only thing I would add!
My sister and I went to try out the place for the first time, but I could definitely see it becoming my go-to comfort ramen. The ramen was great! The black tonkotsu was garlicky and savory as promised, and the Mentai countered it well. I loved how the seating was separated by small walls to maintain privacy, and the little paper slips for taking orders was genius!
Yum!!!!! When they closed down the Hakata in Lake Forest I was so sad! We used to go there a lot. This is my first time trying the Costa Mesa location and I was not disappointed. I tried the new Tokyo tonkotsu ramen. It tasted just like the ramen in Japan. This place is giving Tsujita a run for their ramen! I tried so many ramen houses in the States, but Tsujita and Hakata are still my favorite. The servers were all really nice and attentive. The restaurant looked like a ramen house in Japan. HAPPY RAMENING!!
I've been coming to this ramen shop for quite some time, and always finding myself coming back for some late night ramen. We normally come around 9-10pm, and always have exponential service with the staff, and is never overly crowded. I normally order the Spicy Miso ramen, which has great flavor but has a soup that is on the thicker side. I love the customizations that can be done to the ramen especially for those who have milder taste buds. Definitely recommend coming during lunch or later towards the night to beat having to wait in line!
Regular tonkotsu always a good choice. Highly recommend for beginners. Recently had spicy miso tonkotsu and had the same spicy level as God fire but with a tangy twist.
One of our favorite ramen spots in OC! We love that it opens late too. Portions are really big and I haven't tried anything I didn't like. It's cool that you can to customize your bowl and add your toppings. Service is always quick and easy which makes it a great place to eat and run. Will always come back when we're craving authentic Japanese ramen!
Right off the bat, staff was very friendly and answered our questions politely. We came here on a Wednesday evening and had no wait time for two people. The interior was reminiscent of the ramen restaurants we visited in Japan. To order, you're given an order sheet where you circle the items you'd like. I got the black tonkotsu ramen with extra green onions and it was pretty good. Was it the best I've ever had? Not really, but it satisfied my craving. One thing I can appreciate is the flavored egg-- a lot of the time, "flavored eggs" in ramen spots taste like a normal soft boiled egg, but this one was flavorful indeed! My fiancé got the god fire ramen with level two spice. BE AWARE, IT IS SPICY. We were pretty surprised since he only got a level two, but overall, he said it was really delicious and it had a really nice flavor that stood out apart from the spiciness. The katsu curry bowl (comes with rice on the bottom) was pretty good too. Again, was it the best I've had? No it wasn't, but it was satisfying enough. The hakata style gyoza is the way to go-- comes with a flavorful dipping sauce and has a nice crust on it! Overall, a nice comfort meal in the Costa Mesa area! We recommend it if you're in the area looking for a friendly place with good food.
I haven't preferred eating out for ramen in a while because it can be a heavy meal with the thick broth and noodles. However, I recently stopped by here for their lunch combo and was very pleasantly surprised! We tried the God Fire Level 1 and the Black Tonkotsu with added egg as our toppings and also ordered the Spicy Tuna Don and 1/2 Fried Rice as our side dishes. We also got a side of gyoza to share which was light and a nice palette change in between our bites of the ramen. The ramen was so good--the God Fire Level 1 had just the right amount of spice to give it a kick without being overwhelming and still enjoyable, and the Black Tonkotsu was wonderfully garlicky and flavorful. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The tonkotsu pork was a bit on the tougher side, but I didn't let that ruin my bowl; it was overall really good. Even though we were almost too full, the Spicy Tuna Don was solid, especially with some soy sauce. I also tried their new Japanese pudding, which was a nice touch after the meal. Overall, a really solid ramen joint in the area and the service was fast; we were seated immediately, and our dishes came out even faster. The entire dining experience was under an hour, making it perfect for those who want a quick bite and go!
